| Projects | During high school, I
took my first
introduction to photography class and fell in love with it. Growing up as a black girl in a white suburb is not a new story but photography quickly became my method of coping with this difficult environment. I was introduced to the community darkroom after I exhausted all the resources of my school and began an internship which included assisting teaching photography to fourth graders. This would end up being a life changing experience for me. After graduating high school, I attended Rochester Institute of Technology for my BFA in fine art photography. Towards the end of my time at RIT, I began reflecting on the impact teaching left on me from my experience at the comm- unity darkroom. As a result, I applied and got into Massachusetts college of Art to receve my Masters in Art Education. During my time in Boston, I became increasingly involved with teaching and got further away from my first love, photography. After several years of teaching in Boston and in Rochester where I returned in 2006, I decided to re-dedicate myself to image making. I find myself now extremely fortunate to be in my second year at Visual Studies Workshop to obtain my Masters in Fine Arts. Download CV Here |
